Memory is what moves you and is moved by you
In another epic failure of our educational system, most adults learned highly immature learning styles focusing on cramming, existential dread and other maladaptive strategies
In my own journey to unlearn that BS, I've learned some things about how to hack memory
Memory is based on emotion, environment, and time
You don't learn things intimately by cramming, No matter how hard you cram 90% of it will be gone in 4 days.
Memory is about a relationship with the knowledge you seek, over time and based on how much it moves you
You can be moved by fear or by love, by protecting yourself from the negative (there by exposing yourself to the negative) or by moving towards the pleasure, the passion (there by creating more of it).
So when realizing a new interest in a new discipline, just dip your toes in
If you find a new discipline that intrigues you or that you may think an opportunity awaits, take a couple minutes to get the basic outline and familiarize yourself with it over time with no rush. A slow boil so to speak.
